EDGEMASTERGlass Foiler
User Instructions

The EdgeMaster™ Glass Foiler helps apply copper foil smoothly and evenly to all edges of your stained glass. The EdgeMaster™ combines the most advanced features for stained glass foiling: Rolling wheels automatically center the foil on your glass while crimping the foil around the glass edges. Added tension wheels prevent foil from uncoiling, keeping it neatly on the wheels. The EdgeMaster™ will accommodate two rolls of copper foil tape in three standard sizes - 3/16", 7/32" and 1/4".

Mounting Instructions

  1. For best results you should crew the EdgeMaster™ Glass Foiler securely onto your work bench using the wood screws provided.
  2. Place the base of the Foiler at the edge of your bench with the rolling wheels overhanging the edge. This will maximize the size of pieces you can foil.

Loading Instructions

  1. Choose the appropriate foil support wheel for your copper foil tape.
  2. Place the tape onto the support wheel so that the foil core fits around the support wheel's inner ring so that the leading edge of tape comes off the wheel from the bottom and the wheel rotates counter-clock wise.
  3. Mount the support wheel with foil to the body with a locking nylon nut. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THIS NUT OR THE FOIL WILL NOT ROLL FREELY.
  4. Take the leading edge of tape through the set of guide posts on the Foiler body, down under the tension wheels and them back up and clockwise around the rolling wheels.
  5. Now remove the paper backing from your foil so that is split BEHIND the rolling wheel.
  6. Move the adjustable splitter/peeler so that the blade is nearly touching the copper foil tape itself. At this point, the copper foil should be in front (nearest the rolling wheels).
  7. Pull the foil tape out an inch or so and lay the tape into the rolling wheels track with the sticky side up. You are now ready to foil your glass.
Operating Instructions
  1. Press the edge of your glass piece into the track of the rolling wheel and onto the copper foil.
  2. Rolling the glass in place on the wheel will guide the foil onto all edges of the glass.
  3. Apply enough pressure so the glass pushes into the neoprene ring inside the rolling wheel to cause the foil to begin crimping around the edges.
  4. When you have completely foiled a piece, overlapping your starting point slightly, just the foil with a pair of scissors or tear gently with your fingers making sure the foil lays in the track for the next piece.
  5. Finish crimping and sealing your foil to the glass
